Through supportive exercises and playful challenges, improvisers will be encouraged to work alongside their fear and explore boldly within a safe, guided space. We’ll examine how uncertainty and discomfort can lead to a stronger connection, bolder choices, and performances that feel more alive. Participants will discover practical ways to turn perceived failure into creative possibility, embracing risk to heighten presence, sharpen instincts, and make scenes more daring, dynamic, and truthful.

This course is best suited to musical improvisers, freestyle rappers and singers who have not yet tried doing it a cappella, and are ready to take the next step. If you love improvising musicals but are not the most confident singer, worry not, pitching is not essential as non-singers can speak-sing, rap and do percussion to navigate the workshop playing to their strengths. Intro to A Cappella Impro

Date: Saturday 19th September
Time: 10:00 - 13:00
Duration of Workshop: 3 hours
Venue: Studio B
Minimum/Maximum No. of Participants: 6/12
Level: Open
Price: Regular €40 Early Bird (till 31st May) €35
Workshop Description
No musical skills or knowledge are required for this workshop. We will explore how certain “abilities” are innate and have always been part of us, while also discovering the importance of silence, pauses, rhythm, and listening—fundamental elements in the creative process of the improviser, both individually and as a group, following the emotional flow sparked by music.
Music can make us cry, move us, make us laugh, sometimes even shout, jump, or dance. It encourages us and recharges us. Often, it makes us fall in love.
Music is a collection of emotions to be experienced and discovered—and emotions are an essential element in building an improvised scene.
Music will therefore be an active and integral part of the workshop, including exercises on rhythm and physical-emotional engagement, allowing participants to improvise while being carried by the energy generated by the music.

Workshop Description

In this dynamic workshop inspired by ImprompTwo’s signature style, improvisers will explore the powerful overlap between scripted acting techniques and improvisational theatre. Drawing from theatrical storytelling, character work, and ensemble awareness, this workshop helps improvisers create scenes that feel fully written in the moment—rich with subtext, intention, and emotional logic.
Participants will learn how tools commonly associated with scripted performance—such as beats, objectives, silence, and physical staging—can deepen improvised scenes, making them more grounded, surprising, and theatrically satisfying.
